NS2 camshafts are for individuals that desire more power and an extended rpm range. Works well with stock, near-stock or highly modified R50 and R53 engines, providing excellent mid and upper RPM-range power for spirited street and off road driving. Modifications that would enhance this cam includes the NitroStick Spring and Retainer kit, header, low restriction exhaust, aftermarket CAI and a performance ignition. To maximize the potential, an ECU re-map is recommended. The NS2 cam works well with all manual and automatic transmissions.

What can I expect for power from the NS2?
Your gains will depend on your particular set of engine modifications. Generally increases can vary between 4-8whp or more. This cam is more about peak horsepower and increased whp in the 3650-7250+ RPM range. This RPM range that is most commonly used for spirited street or track use.

Will I need to do any other modification for the NS2 installation?
The short answer is no. While good benefits are realized with a completely stock engine, the NS2 works especially well with modified engines, and won't require a tune to maintain a good idle quality. But like all performance parts, custom tuning will deliver the most gains possible. If you do plan to run in the upper RPM range a lot of the time, please consider the NitroStick Valve Performance Spring and Retainer Kit.

I occasionally run my MINI on a track should I be concerned with running the NS2 cam at the engines red line?
With any camshaft including the NS2 used in high rpm ranges or track use we recommend the installation of the NitroStick Valve Performance Spring and Retainer Kit which helps prevent valve float and spring bounce.

I'd like to get a dry lubricant coating on the cam. Does FES provide that service?
Not directly, but we can help with that! We can ship the cam directly to a local coater of your choosing, or Cradin Industries and they can coat it for you. Because we don't have to mark up the service, it will save you some money. Contact them directly to arrange for coating and shipping to you.

How does the core charge work?
When you install your NS cam, keep all the packaging. Repackage your stock cam in the same materials that your NS cam was shipped in, and use the enclosed address label. When we recieve your usable cam (if it's scored or otherwise damaged, it will be rejected), we'll refund the $50 core charge (and any applicable sales tax) to whatever method you orginally used to pay.

How long do I have to return my core?
We'd like you to try to return the core within a couple of weeks. But if you have to take longer, just call us to let us know. We're flexible at FES, and will do whatever we reasonably can to accomidate your scheduling.
