Is any soldering involved?
No. Power is accessed via a fuse tap. A ground lug is attached to a 10mm bolt. The signal wires are tapped via Posi-Tap connectors. No soldering, totally reversable.
Can this be detected or traced by the dealers?
No. Since all the features can be turned off via the buttons, just turn them all off before visiting the dealer. Just enable the features you want when you drive away!
My second generation MINI doesn't have the Sport Button. Will the Auto Sportplus add that to my car?
Sadly no. The Auto Sportplus contains a small microcontroller and input/output drivers that mimic button presses. It doesn't involve any reprogramming of BMW/MINI control modules. Because of this, it can only activate features that already exist in the car.
