I already have upgraded springs that came with my Performance Head why would I need this spring kit?
Up untill now, no one had made a good valve spring for the Tritec Mini. So, most heads are supplied with either stock springs, or springs that have to be shimmed (compressed) to bring up the seat pressure to a servicable level. Check your dyno graph. Oftentime the roughness in the HP curve above 6000 RPM is due to valve float. These springs will control valve motion to much higher RPM.
Can I install them without having to remove my head from the engine?
Yes! All it takes is two inexpensive tools that allow you to pressurize the cylinder head and then compress the valve spring. The tools are available from many places, including the misc stuff page on the Dr Obnxs blog. The job takes part of an afternoon, with time left over to enjoy a couple of beers!
How much lift can I run with the NitroStick valve springs?
The NitroStick Spring and Retainer kit for the MINI is the only kit rated for camshafts with lifts exceeding 0.500". The springs will deliver high RPM benefit with any camshaft currently offered for the Tritec MINI.
